Ask a kid. ;-) Seriously. I had never done one until about 3 years ago. It took just a few minutes for one of my son to show me the basics. If you can find someone who can go over the basics, they're really pretty easy.

Students often enjoy creating PowerPoint Presentations. For early grades I would suggest creating "short stories" You can annimate objects within the PowerPoint and add sound effects. This does take a bit of time but it is well worth it!
