Hi, Just before the end of the year we started getting training from our Reading First Specialist on using the Fountas Pinnell Benchmark Assessment System.

Prior to this we were using Benchmark books from Reading A- Z, but not the questions... just the running records.

Have any of you used the F-P program? What do you think? Any tips you would like to share?

Thanks, KathyB

Lead Balanced Literacy teacher I teach at a middle school in Los Angeles and we've found the F&P assessment kits to be so useful. Most of our students are struggling readers and for those who are reading at or above an 8th grade reading level, we don't need the same kind of detailed data on them that a Running Record provides.
