TEACHERS.NET ANNOUNCES NASHVILLE TECHNOLOGY
CONFERENCE CONTEST WINNERS

SAN DIEGO, CA -- Teachers.Net, the major resource for educators on the Internet, announces the two winners of a promotion that will provide free registration and hotel accommodations during the Technology and Learning Conference in Nashville, Tennessee, October 29-31. The conference is sponsored by the National School Boards Association and the National Education Association. The Regal Maxwell House Hotel, one of the host hotels for the Nashville conference will provide a double room for the two winners for four nights.

Lisa Harrison of Texas and Tom Pini from Missouri will join over 3,500 educators from all over the country for what is billed as "education's premier conference on technology" with the opportunity to choose from among more than 100 workshops, speakers and networking sessions. They will be admitted without charge to their choice of workshops and will have access to over one hundred exhibits displaying the latest in technology and related materials available to schools. Also available will be workshops and roundtable discussions presented by the NEA.

Lisa Harrison is a first grade teacher at Giesinger Elementary School in Conroe, Texas. She is a member of the Reading Recovery Association, the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development and is working toward a Masters Degree in Reading. Lisa is especially excited about attending the Technology and Learning Conference. It will enable her to explore ways to make the best use of the computers obtained as the result of a successful grant application written with her first grade team. Married and the mother of two daughters, Lisa is a busy person and says that she makes good (and frequent) use of the various resources offered by Teachers.Net.

"I LOVE Teachers.Net," says the 17-year teaching veteran. "I belong to the First Grade, 4-Blocks, and WebTalk mailrings. If I don't read the Primary Chatboard every day, I feel like something is missing!" Mrs. Harrison has introduced Teachers.Net to her teaching colleagues "and now they have become addicts as well!"

Tom Pini teaches fourth grade at Fairmount Elementary School in St. Peters, Missouri. Tom also serves as his school's Technology Facilitator and is building representative to the District Technology Committee. In his eleventh year of teaching, he is responsible for the operation of over 200 computers in the classrooms and offices at Fairmount School and is administrator of the school's local area network and servers. Tom serves as a co-sponsor of the Student Council, is a member of the National Education Association and its local affiliate, the Francis Howell Education Association, and is an intelligence officer with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Air Force Reserve. He is married and the father of seven children.

Tom finds Teachers.Net a valuable resource. "I make frequent use of the Internet in my responsibilities as teacher and technology facilitator. Teachers.Net is a great way to find others with similar interests and to see how others are attacking the same challenges I face." His favorite section of the site is the Computer Technology Chatboard. Tom looks forward to attending the Nashville conference so that he can bring back and share exciting information with his colleagues at Fairmount Elementary School.

Tom and Lisa will be invited to lead a live, online discussion about their experiences at the Nashville conference in the Teachers.Net Conference Room, the site of a busy schedule of live professional development meetings, author chats, computer troubleshooting sessions, and grade level meetings.
