Summer Tips for Teachers Featured in July Issue of The Teachers.Net Gazette
Educators Share their Best Ideas and Expertise

SAN DIEGO, CA -- The July issue of the Teachers.Net Gazette webzine features tips for teachers as they make the most of the summer schedule to plan and prepare for the new school year.

A cover story by Barbara and Sue Gruber instructs educators on how to "Rest, Relax, Recharge and Have Some Fun!" during summer. "Prepare, prepare, prepare" is the mantra of Harry and Rosemary Wong in their June-July column, "Teaching Procedures is Teaching Expectations." The Wongs write monthly columns on effective teaching, exclusively for the Teachers.Net Gazette.

Another regular contributor, Ginny Hoover writes about an activity that will help teachers REALLY get to know their new students this Fall.

Marjan Glavac, author of the Busy Educator's Guide to the World Wide Web writes about five web sites he recommends for beginning teachers, and veterans who wish to add to their online repertoire.

In "Using the Summer to Improve Your Teaching," Bill Page writes about ways teachers can gather, organize, then implement tips, lessons, and activities for use during the coming school year. Gathered from mentor boards on the Teachers.Net site are collections of teachers' practical tips for keeping records on students with IEPs, classroom management techniques, tasks to perform in preparation for the new school year, and how to use education materials catalogs for instructional purposes.

Innovative classroom recipes this month include ice cream in a bag, Kool Aid Dough, and links to edible insect recipes sure to drive students buggy: Banana Worm Bread and Rootworm Beetle Dip. One teacher contributes her watermelon craft activities for use as part of a summer theme for those whose schools open in July and August.

Dozens of other articles cover topics ranging from the practical to the humorous, academic to inspirational. Making the most of search engines, a survey of teachers' summer job plans, inspirational quotes, poetry, pointers for literacy instruction and much more can be found in the current issue of the Teachers.Net Gazette at http://teachers.net/gazette.

Back issues remain available at http://teachers.net/gazette/backissues, and via links within the current issue.
