NATIONAL BOARD CERTIFICATION CANDIDATES RECEIVE HELP ONLINE AT TEACHERS.NET
San Diego - Teachers.Net announces that National Board for Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS) candidates now have access to mentoring support online. Those pursuing certification by the NBPTS can now participate in weekly online discussions via Teachers.Net during the rigorous year-long process involved in becoming a National Board Certified Educator. The live discussions, moderated and mentored by NBPTS certified educators, provide candidates with advice and support from peers who have achieved the status of National Board Certified Educator. This peer support remains available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week through the NBPTS e-mail discussion groups, or "mailrings." and on two dedicated discussion boards ("chatboards").
The NBPTS Elementary Exceptional Needs candidates group meets at 9pmE in the Teachers.Net Meeting Room, http://teachers.net/meetings each Friday. On Saturdays, the NBPTS Early Childhood Generalist group meets at 4 pmE, also in http://teachers.net/meetings. The 9pmE Saturday hour is open to all NBPTS candidates, regardless of specialty.
Additional NBPTS resources at Teachers.Net include:
- http://teachers.net/mentors/ec-gen (For Early Childhood Generalist candidates)
- http://teachers.net/mentors/es-gen (Elementary/Secondary) as well as
- Two NBPTS e-mail discussion groups (EC-Gen and Elem/Secondary) available at http://teachers.net/mailrings.
Like all Teachers.Net online events, NBPTS chat transcripts are archived at http://teachers.net/archive.
