TEACHERS.NET, NEA, AND NASHVILLE JOIN TO SEND
TEACHERS TO TECHNOLOGY AND LEARNING CONFERENCE
SAN DIEGO, CA -- Teachers.Net, the major online resource for educators, announces its collaboration with the National Education Association and Nashville, Tennessee's Regal Maxwell House Hotel enabling two public school teachers to attend the 12th Annual Technology and Learning Conference, October 29-31, 1998.
Teachers.Net will conduct a random drawing awarding two free registrations for the National School Boards Association sponsored "T&L" conference in Nashville. The registrations have been donated by event co-sponsor, the National Education Association. Entrants must be public school teachers who submit brief messages indicating which of the many Teachers.Net site resources they find most helpful to them as teaching professionals. Details and contact information will be available at the site, http://www.Teachers.Net late in July.
The Technology and Learning Conference is billed as "education's premier conference on technology, where breakthrough innovations in education and technology come together." The three-day event will offer more than 100 workshops, speakers and networking sessions within 12 tracks, covering topics from "Classroom-Based Curriculum Applications" to "Issues In Distance Learning" and "Technology And At-Risk Students". Conference planners expect more than 3,500 classroom, administrative, and technology resource professionals to join school board members and hundreds of educational technology vendors at the Nashville Convention Center.
Teachers.Net expects an enthusiastic response from its large community of educators. Bob Reap, site co-director predicts, "The thousands of teachers who use our site every day are hungry for information about accessing and applying technology in the school environment. They will jump at the rare opportunity to perhaps be selected to attend a national level conference at no cost to them or their school district."
Joining the effort to make the conference experience comfortable and enjoyable is Nashville's famous Regal Maxwell House Hotel, one of the official host hotels for the event. Each of the two teachers selected will be treated to a double room for four nights, October 28-31. While travel is not part of the 'prize', Teachers.Net Director of Promotions Kathleen Carpenter is hoping that a sponsor will come forward with an offer to pay travel expenses for the two winners.
A special discount on registration for the NSBA Technology and Learning Conference (held Oct. 29-31 in Nashville, TN) is available for NEA members. This conference is an excellent technology staff development investment. Registrants will be able to find out how technology is affecting technology not only today, but tomorrow as well. In addition to regular conference activities, members will be able to visit the NEA Center in the conference hall where they can join in roundtable discussions about technology concerns, attend workshops on using technology in the classroom presented by NEA members, and network with their peers.
