We got home early this month from our trip to New York City and cruise of New
England and Canada. All was good until the very end. I got out of our cab/van
to the airport and left my tote bag complete with my iPad, some jewelry, and
other things. That all added up to about $500. Well, I called the cab company
and they said they had my bag and would take it to the Holiday Inn where we
stayed. The hotel said they could send it but first needed documentation for
customs so they could release it. I got the forms through FEDEX and filled them
out. They FEDEX lady said it would be $50 and she thought it would be less
costly at the post office. WRONG! Completely frustrated by then, I paid $55!
Okay, I thought all was well and the papers made it to Canada and the hotel
where we stayed. They lady at the hotel said the cost to send out was $80
charged to my credit card and they would be picked up that day. Okay, I
thought, "FINALLY, I will get my things." Okay, then yesterday I got a call from a
FEDEX agent in Memphis who said there was another form they needed but no
cost this time. She emailed me the form. Okay, I filled that one out and FAXed
to the Memphis lady. She said now it was going through a Springfield, MO.
office and gave the person to contact and all the information. SOOOOOOO, we
shall see. Hope it arrives soon. RIGHT now I am FED UP, not with FED EX but
the endless bureaucracy in this country!!
Sure wish I could travel as much as my tote bag has for just $135!!! What a
hassle. It will be a miracle if it finally arrives. I may have to pop open a bottle of
champagne after all this!!!! Bottom line, don't hurry and leave stuff especially if
you're out of the country.
