Since October is my absolutely favorite month, I have always
wanted to take a vacation then. Of course, as a teacher,
that was totally impossible. That was always the busiest
time of the year for my husband even after I retired, so "no
go". Now that he has retired, we are free to travel when we
want to go. We just returned from a week long camping trip
to the mountains of western North Carolina. We hiked to
several waterfalls and enjoyed the spectacular scenery. It
is a great year for color in the mountains. The best part
of taking a vacation in retirement is that you don't have to
rush home and get ready to go back to work. That makes me a
"happy camper" for sure!
