I see the teaching job market looks challenging in Ohio. What's the prospect for reading specialists? I am currently certified as such in GA, teach 5th grade L.A., have an Ed.S. in Reading Ed (which makes me expensive), 15 years experience (also makes me expensive), but have family in Ohio so I'd like to move there.

Teaching jobs are very competitive here in Central and Southwest Ohio. I think that it depends on where you live, where you are willing to teach, and who you know. You are right about the expensive part but.... You will cost someone a lot and it is a factor here in OH as compared to GA because of the way education is funded. However, the reading specialist will be to your advantage. Good luck! I moved here from GA 2 years ago and still no fulltime job.
