I will be graduating in December 2012 with Pre-K -3 Early Childhood teaching degree. I was thinking of getting my 4th- 5th grade endorsement to be able to teach K-5. I was wondering if this would help with getting a job?? Is it worth even taking?? (Will most districts still want middle aged teaching degrees for these positions?

I was also thinking of getting a reading endorsement for K- 12. Which do you feel would be more beneficial on a resume and in hopes of getting a job??

I live in Ohio

Please Help or offer advice Thanks

7th grade teacher The Reading Endorsement is your best bet. Schools and states are putting so much emphasis on reading in the content area because of the Common Core initiative that schools are hiring teachers with a reading background. You really limited yourself with that K-3 degree.

lucky to have a job I would definitely add the 4/5 endorsement. I was K-3 and the only position available for me last year was in the upper grades. Luckily, I had decided to get the endorsement just to cover as many bases as I could.
