HI: Im a long islander looking to move in approximately one year...HOw is the job situation in South Carolina? I currently am a substitute in LI with no hopes of landing a job & certified with a Masters in Elm Ed. Is it likely to find an elementary Ed teaching job down there in public school or private.

PA transplant I was in your situation in PA 4 years ago. I had a phone interview with a good district here and was hired. It is a different culture...be prepared! But the weather is great and the people are friendly. Hard to find good pizza, though. My area has several new schools opening, and there always seem to be job postings....I'm in York 3. Laura Sly You really captured the essence of the culture in SC. I have to laugh about the culture shock! I was in Greenville, SC for a few months last spring and will be moving back in a couple weeks. I tell people here in Michigan that there is no such thing as quickly running into a store to pick something up---People are constantly starting conversations....See More
