My principal has begun requiring a sing in sheet where teachers are to daily record their arrival time, and leave/return time if they leave the grounds during lunch, break, etc. Is this legal? The sheet is on the main desk for all to see. I am personally uncomfortable with this as it encourages "professional judgements" that are often wrong. Daily, I am at the school building as much as two hours after school but arrive only minutes before our "official reporting time." There's no column to show that! What are your opinions, colleagues? And what is the law?

platypus It just seems to be another way that teachers are being disrespected. There are more important things going on in a classroom for evaluations. As to how much time you spend in the building, that really has nothing to do with how much work you are doing. Most teachers work at home.
