Post: Special Ed Teacher job prospects

I recently got approved for an Educational Specialist
Mild/Moderate sped credential in California from out of
state. The only thing I need to do to renew in 5 years is
add the English learner authorization. I currently teach in
Texas and will have 7 years total experience after this
year. I have taught in rough, urban districts in Chicago
    and Dallas.

My questions is: What does the job market for sped teachers
REALLY look like in southern California? I'm wanting to
live in LA or Orange counties but I might consider San Diego
if my wife finds more career prospects there. She is in
healthcare and will probably not have an issue finding a
job. We're not interested in other areas as that we have
friends and family in southern California.

I've read about the CA teacher shortage, but I know these
things are sometimes overblown. I'm willing to work in
urban districts as I have before. I have the certifications
mentioned above with 7 years experience and a Masters
degree. What are my job prospects? I also have IT
experience, and if teaching looks bleak, I might focus on
updating my IT skills and getting a job doing that, though I
    prefer teaching.
