    I'm a special education teacher from Illinois, but I have
    been out of teaching for a few years. I have my
    California license already and have started to apply for
    special ed teaching jobs. I have been applying for about a
    month, but I haven't moved to the area yet. I haven't heard
    anything yet. This would be for 2017-18.

    I know it's early, but I have been hearing
    that the Bay Area is hurting for teachers, especially sped
    teachers. Is it the fact that I am out of state or have
    been out of teaching for about 3 years? Any advice? I
    expected some calls because of all the news articles about
    shortages.
