I've heard that after 10 years of service (for tier 4
members), teachers get "retiree health benefits".
Would this mean that if I left teaching before retirement
age (after say 11 years of service), that I would then be
eligible for NYC DOE Welfare-Fund health insurance when I
started collecting a pension at age 55-62?
I can't seem to find any info on this, but I've heard
numerous people mention it in passing. Your replies are
appreciated, thanks
