You can thank Lord Bloomberg for changing the rules. The salaries
used to come out of the DOE, now principals are now penalized for
hiring experienced, expensive, long term teachers. It comes out of
their budget. Impossible to get a job now with a few years
experience, never mind 16 yrs. Plenty of people who live on Staten
Island have a 2 hour commute. Can you retire? Is that an option?
