Hey Michelle,
I am in a similar situation and I was just curious how you made
out? I filed for the first extension. I was nervous about the
requirements so I called the NYSED and I spoke to a gentlemen who
was very honest and understanding. He explained that they are just
attempting to discourage people from doing extending. He told me to
put in my hardship, pay the $50 and hit apply. I did, the next day
I was already approved online for 2 additional years.
Unfortunately, I would significantly benefit from an additional
year, so I called NYSED again. This time, the gentlemen seemed very
stern and said in order to apply for an additional extension, I
would need to have experienced an extreme hardship 6 months
preceding the expiration of my extension already in place. However,
if I trust that the 2nd extension will go through, and it does not,
it will be too late for me have any chance of completing my
permanent certification. I have until January 31st, 2017, but I
need 18 credits and my project seminar thesis course. In addition
to completing all that and filing for all of my certs. So I an get
it done, but it would be a lot easier if I receive another
extension.
Let me know if you had any luck!
Thanks
Josh
