In San Francisco's shoreline Crissy Field, a gem of a recreational site in the Presidio and part of the Golden Gate Recreational Area, you might catch a glimpse of "The Rock Man" as he patiently and meticulously creates rock towers that you have to see to believe. No tricks, no gum, no glue, no other support.

Bryce Canyon National Park in Utah overflows its borders. Miles before entering the park we had already pulled over several times so I could snap some pictures. But once inside, the view is even more incredible.

With a thunderstorm in the distance, approaching from the South Rim, the usual haziness across the canyon was more pronounced.
Humans on the rock formation in the right foreground provide perspective.
