Charlotte Mecklenburg schools is advertising a pay of
67,000 dollars. The state max after 25 years is only
50,000. Some school districts offer a small summer
supplement. The 67,000 is only for a small group of
teachers at troubled schools. The teachers who get this
bonus pay are few and far between. My friend is a great
teacher that has taught for 13 years at high poverty
schools in CMS. He only makes 40,000 a year. North
Carolina has awful benefits. They do not have any teacher
protections. The state is now taking away health
insurance for new hire's when they retire. They have
70/30 insurance. No vision, no dental... My friend pays
$800 a paycheck to insure his family For 70/30!!!!
Teachers are leaving North Carolina for a reason. Look at
