Thanks guys for the suggestions and help! It seems from my
reading the main thing i need to nail down is to establish
consistent rules and procedures from the very beginning. I've
been trying to steal a little from here and there to create my
own classroom rules and procedures. My main fear is to lose
control and have the whole class ignoring me regardless of what
I do. This happened to me a couple of times last year and I had
no clue what to do. I could not send the whole class to the
office. The only thing I could do was get help from neighboring
teachers. The mere presence of the neighboring teacher got the
students to be quiet. They clearly did not respect me. Needless
to say, this was very embarrassing!
