This is why we do it…

December 1, 2008

I have felt like 40 miles of bad road for the past few days. This morning while hubs was off hunting, I dragged my miserable self to the grocery store to get milk (my comfort food).

Outside of the store was a table with 4-5 girls around it, and an older girl who seemed to be in charge of it all. It turned out they were requesting items to be given to our local Food Bank. Just as I'm absorbing this, the older girl squealed and came running over to me hollering, "YOU'RE MRS. X!!!"

I admitted that yes, I was, and she immediately poured out her tale of when I subbed in her class, how I'd helped her, etc., etc. She reminded me of one particular thing which I really do remember, and she told me I was always her favorite sub, I made the lessons fun, etc.

Well, I stood there, looking like something the cat dragged in but feeling a WHOLE lot better! She gave me a big hug and I went on in to do my shopping.

You know, all of that HAD to have been at least 10 years ago, and here she still remembered me. :)

(Oh, yes, I bought some things for the Food Bank.)
