narrative is casual and informative, while being concise,
humorous, bluntly frank, compassionate, and optimistic.
He reveals the shortcomings, pitfalls, and small
victories of the system, the administrators, the
teachers, the parents, and the students, and even spares
himself no criticism.

Silvery School Days: A Teacher’s Odyssey is a perfect
weaving of a very personal story into an objective
accounting of the incongruous backdrop and events of
Silver’s career—all with a happy ending. A delightful
read!
