Try to collect everything you can from thrift stores,
Craiglist "free" ads, dollar stores, etc. You don't know how
much they will give you. You don't want to wait weeks for
chalk. I was an art teacher who was told tape is only for
office workers, so I had to buy my own. The DOE is notorious
for being cheap with supplies, textbooks, etc. The other
teachers will mostly not share with you because no one has
enough. Also plan to go to the library for middle school
reading books. You may want to make a list of what you need
so the kids can give it to the parents to buy and bring it
in: paper towels, sanitizer, windex, pencils, erasers,
folders, blank paper, notebook paper, toilet paper, rulers, etc.
There are a couple of ads for "free" stuff on Craiglist now.
