There is no rule prohibiting the observation following
holidays, though a district is required to follow its own
appraisal calendar, which might restrict them. Teachers may
not have formal observation 3 weeks following orientation
to allow time for self report 1.
There is no requirement of advance notice for PDAS, they
can come at anytime with out announcement during the
observation window.
The district has 10 working days to deliver the formal
observation summary.
Yes there are rules, but any savvy admin knows how to get
around them. They can simply wait until you have a bad day
and then drop in. As long as the timelines are adhered too
they are fine. There are other abuses, but they are very
hard to prove if an admin is smart enough to be vague.
