Just an FYI.....I retired in Calif in 2005 and receive my monthly CalStrs retirement
check.
I had also worked in my younger days and qualified for Social Security as well.
I had always heard teachers who get STRS retirement get nothing out of their
Soc. Sec. Windfall Profit something.
So anyway, I turn 67 1/2 in Dec. of this year and according to SS worker who just
called me......I would have received over $500 per month if I didn't have STRS
retirement BUT I will still get $129 a month (no taxes on it).
So when you retire and if you have Soc Sec. 40 quarters, do apply for SS along
with your STRS retirement. $129 will pay for half of our RV rental space per
month. It's worth something at least.
