This is very likely illegal. It has been well established that if your
school and district operate an establish work schedule and bell
policy then that is a defacto terms of service and work schedule.
Unless a SPECIFIC contract or contract addendum for extra
curricular activities exists, they can not require you to volunteer
outside those hours, and your district is just banking that no
one will protest too much or too loudly.
The issue for you is whether or not the time is worth the
disfavor of your principal?
