Letters to the Editor...
Changes in IDEA
Dear Editor: I hope that all of your readers will let their folks in Washington know how they feel about the new proposed changes in IDEA. This includes not having to update the IEP each year, unless the family insist and other time saving ideas. This is a bill that does not need financial backing, but can save every school system in the country, teachers and parents tremendous work hours and tons of paper. Please, get all of your faculty, parents and friends to support this IDEA legislation. It is back in committee and is being rewritten. Some of this is because the original sponsor wanted it as a pilot in a specific number of states, but many others on the committee felt it should be done in every state. Dr. Barbara Y.
