Not sure I understand. All teachers in NYS need a college
degree and a Master's after 5 years. A beginning teacher in
NYC would earn almost 50k/year with a BA, I do not know about
Long Island, they have different salaries. If you were told
30k, is that because you are applying as a teacher's assistant
or para? You seem to not be able to show college credits? Yes
you would need to prove college credits with official
transcripts. Perhaps you should continue with University work,
although if you don't have college I don't see how. STEM
teachers also need to have college a BA at minimum.
This is not the best place for information, I would contact
the NYS education dept.
