Hi All,
It seems that working conditions (lengthy and frequent meetings) are spiraling
out of control in our district (Northern CA). We have elementary teachers who
are being asked to teach their regular hours, then go to two meetings after
school. Last Monday an elementary teacher's last meeting end at 7:15 pm. She
had an SST mtg. at 8:20 am and had to write up plans beforehand, as well as
well as a report after her last meeting. Now we are having at least two SST
mtgs. per year when we refer a student for help because the team is checking
their rate of growth. The assertion is that too many students are getting RSP
services. I haven't observed or experienced any such evidence; though it is
anecdotal data on my part.
We are asked/invited to report to our site reps about any concerns that we have
and it seems to me that a survey would be more effective communication;
rather than putting notes in our reps' boxes and not ever knowing what other
members' issues are. Does anyone have a sample survey that I could introduce
to our local union board? It would be most appreciated. ---ET
