Re: SpEd "push in"
Posted by Jeanne on 5/16/08

Thank you! I think this is very helpful for me. I'm a lone ranger 4 blocker in a
school where everyone does leveled groups and centers. I really appreciate
hearing from you. So far, I don't know how many sped kids I'll have, or how long
the teacher will be pushing in but this is something to go on.

Another question, during SSR, do you use book baskets and let the kids make their
own choices, or do you do individual book bags in which each student has books
at their level? I'm a book basket user, and I try to teach the children to choose just
right books, but I think that letting them choose harder books is all a part of the
messy business of learning to read. It may be a book that is more difficult, but if
the motivation is there, that motivation can be a very powerful incentive to learn to
    read the words.
