Yes - the schedule very much bothers me too. That is why I
came asking for some advice as to make it best work with the
time that has been given. The powers that be have assigned me
this time slot. As a team, we discussed that in the afternoons
during our homeroom time, we would each be responsible for
teaching SSR, social studies (with a STRONG tie in to
children's lit - 20 minutes worth, grammar and writing (also
with a minilesson devoted to a tie in with children's lit -
total time about 45 minutes, and then a daily quick review of
math or language arts). I want to make sure that I can do the
most that I can during the 60 minutes of what the school has
deemed true reading time (aka - reading scores better go uo
next year). I did notice that I didn't really address fluency
though.
