Stephanie, you already have my best suggestion, which is
reading a to z. Another thing you might try is Time for
Kids or National Geographic for Kids. What is great about
these two is they have a primary and intermediate version of
their magazine, so it's great for differentiating in 3 Ring
Circuses and Book Clubs. The cover and photographs are
usually the same, but the text is different, so it's not as
noticeable that Jimmy is reading the "easy" version. Also,
(you may not like this one), I have went to general websites
like about . com and printed out that stuff or retyped it
changing a word here or there to meet the level of
children. Core Knowledge also has materials to help out.
Check out the "What Your Fourth Grader Should Know.."
series. (Replace with your grade level) I taught in a Core
Knowledge school for a year, so good luck!
