I am teaching a reading class to students with moderate
retardation. They are high schoolers, mostly 14 year olds. I
was not given any material so I asked for the Open Court
books that the rest of the district uses. I got books so now
I have class sets. I was trained in 4 blocks so I am using 4
blocks with the books. My problem is for guided reading I
have one boy who will take a half an hour to read a story
when the rest of the class reads it in 15 minutes. Partner
reading helps a little. Any other suggestions?
