Guided Reading Help!

Hello all. I have been wrestling with GR for the past three years. Previously I taught in school where 4B was our framework and I loved it. Three years ago I changed schools and am now working in a school that is F&P Guided Reading. I have wrestled and WRESTLED with how in the world to meet with groups and keep the rest of the class using their time productively. This year I made a deal with myself that I would give the whole thing a real chance and do F&P whole hog. It is tow months in and I am in the same place that I have found myself for the past three years! Frustrated with lack of time and reseources to meet with multiple groups. HELP!

Is two months enough of a chance? Can I go back to 4B now? My admin will be okay with it as long as my students show progress at the end of the year. If it works, they won't complain... and I have established with my admin that I know what I am doing.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

K/MA I recommend reading The Daily Five book. It sets up a framework for what your other students are doing and explains how to teach them each part and build independence slowly.
