She's probably talking about using different hooks. It's a
good idea to give the kids practice starting different ways
like with a question, dialogue, exclamatory or fragment
sentence. You could get more ideas by doing a Google search.
You could try emphasizing the different traits. Sentence
fluency is a good one to play with depending on the tone you
want to set in the piece
