Re: Applying for Next Next Year :)
Posted by Joan Crown Hodges on 6/19/08

I just got my DoDDS post yesterday; I initially applied 6 years
ago & turned down a post in Cuba. I hadn't heard anything since,
so I have been working to increase my certifications. I thought I
would be a shoo-in since I have an MEd in Special Ed. but that's
not how it works. Ironically, this year I got 3 calls: Belgium,
Germany & Japan-- all three are English positions, but each has
another (journalism, drama, etc). I accepted the post in Japan
but hope to go to Europe in a few years. So, my advice to you is
to ALWAYS update your file and get as many certifications as
possible. Also, last year I underwent National Board
Certification. Though DoDDS doesn't compensate for NBC, I'm sure
it's why I got called again after all these years. On 5/17/08, E
