I'm not working in Europe, but my mom did for about 20 years. I'm
trying to get there now, and I can tell you that even with all the
connections I have there through my mom, that it is INCREDIBLY
difficult. There are many schools closing in Europe due to troop draw
downs, and DoDDS' first obligation is to place all those teachers that
were displaced due to closures. Then (or it may even be
simultaneous), anyone already in the system is given priority (based
on years of service and location) for transfers. After that, if there
are any military spouses that can teach in areas where there are
vacancies, they're given priority. Only after that do they hire CONUS
teachers.
I don't know a lot about DoDDS-Pacific, but I've heard its easier to
get hired there, but I'm guessing it's not a lot.
Sorry to be pessimistic. Just DON'T GIVE UP. Put the application in,
and stay with it. Keep updating it. Do everything you can.
