Yesterday I had an interview and received a call from H.R. this morning saying that I've been selected for a stateside teaching position. I've read some postings saying that people are still waiting on the processing of their background checks. Does anyone know how long the process will take for a stateside new hire if I'm in the same state as the school? Thank you for your help!

nikkied If you don't mind me asking, which base and grade did you get your position for. I interviewed also for a stateside position and I'm waiting to hear back right now.

niknak From my experience the background check took just over a month from the time I received the fingerprint card. In reality it took even longer than that because I didn't receive the fingerprint card right away. My initial paper work, including passport application, came a day or two after I accepted my position back in mid July. If I had to do it all...See More

Raven My fingerprints were released for the background investigation 56 days ago, and I'm still waiting to be cleared. Might be good info to know ahead of time

kgteach Than you all for replying. This is good information. Im worried about having enough time to notify my principal of my resignation. I want to at least give 2 weeks notice before I depart. Are you allowed to pick your start date?

haha You can't exactly pick your start date but you request a certain travel date (as I recall) when you apply for your orders. The travel date on your orders is generally considered a travel on or around that date which is within 10 days or so. So there is some wiggle room in most situations.
