For those that are waiting for background checks or other issues and have waited for quite some time (few months) and once email or call comes for travel orders and due to circumstance beyond your control one decides not to go..... Does anyone know what the consequences would be????

haha Since the site is still broken and won't let me respond to the other post: That would depend on your state/district/school and your current employment status (or lack thereof).

sunny If you don't mind me asking, for how long have you been wainting by now to get cleared? Does it matter in what state you are doing the background check? How will you get notified when completed?

Insight @Sunny my process started in July. My clearance just happened a few weeks ago. I was notified by a phone call

sunny @Insight Thanks for the info. I thought you were still waiting for the clearance. How long it takes to receive the travel orders after the clearance goes through? What did you decide for yourself?

Euxpat You have to work a minimum of 175 school days to qualify for a full year of employment and get the free RAT ride home. That happened to us transferring from DDESS to DODDS, so we had to wait another year to qualify.
