LaVerne, I am retaking one portfolio entry and one assessment center
exercise and came across this site. I want to thank you for what you
have posted. You have said everything I have been thinking as I made the
decision to retake entries to try and raise my score. After all the
money and time I have spent the last two years, I will not retake any
entries again if I don't pass this time. I can't afford it and frankly,
I can't handle the stress! It is sad that this process, that in the
beginning I thought was truly going to make me a better teacher, has made
me doubt and question my teaching rather than build up my confidence.
This process needs to be changed! I truly have learned A LOT about
myself as a teacher and have grown in many areas as I was forced to
reflect on my teaching throughout this whole process. It is just very
unfortunate that scores don't truly reflect this. I hope and pray that I
make it through this time but if I don't, I have decided I am done
fighting the system. I will just shut my classroom door and continue
teaching my kids the way I know is best practice, even if I never make
National Board status.
