    60 percent is a D- or almost an F on most grading scales. If
    they aren't getting 80 percent they aren't growing in their
    reading skills. So they need to read the book more carefully
    (or read it period, many kids take the test too soon), find a
    book they can be successful with first (maybe reading level of
    the book is too high), or possibly reread the book and retake
    the test (you can eliminate the test if they want to retake
    it.

    If a child is reading at his/her comfort level, with
    appropriate books there is no reason for kids to get below an
    80 percent.
