If I understand your response your daughter's teacher is also
confused, therefore I think she should be able to compromise on
a 6.5 or higher average book level. I am as confused as you when
it comes to book leveling. There are different systems for
leveling, and they often seem to come up with at least slightly
different levels. Just as you stated one system might say it is
a grade 6 book, while AR says it is only a grade 4 book - it can
also happen the other way around. (AR says Twilight is a high
grade 4 book if I remember correctly!) I take the leveling 'with
a grain of salt', in if the at least some system says it is the
level I want the child to be reading it is alright to read. I
want an about level on the AR for this reason.
