Re: Words of wisdom from Dr. Prochillo
Posted by AND the reality is... on 7/09/07

WE DO NOT LIVE IN A UTOPIA ...we live in a capitalistic society
where the public school system is designed to gradually prepare
our children to, first, function as much as possible in society-
at-large and to some degree entertain themselves in a healthy
manner in order to be contributing members of societies.

Yes, there are times when this may a bit out of balance, but in
6 hours a day over 13 years the average kid gets ample
    opportunities to accomplish these goals.

It is ADMINISTRATION AND PARENTS' RESPONSIBILITY TO ENSURE EACH
TEACHER IS EFFECTIVELY presenting the material he/ she is
    supposed to teach!

EVERYONE is responsible to ensure teachers receive appropriate
training/ testing BEFORE the assume classroom roles/
responsibilities. Granted, the current system is NOT what it
could be, but what are YOU willing to do about it? This
question is the one you should bring to the table instead of
taking the baby out of the bath water...
