A teacher in my grade was told yesterday she was going to
be moved to teach a 2nd grade next year. The principal
gave her no choice in the matter. She has taught 4th
grade for 10 years, and 1st for this past year. In her
end of the year evaluation, the principal was very nice
and said she has worked hard this year to do what was
necessary to beef up her discipline and teaching. Then
out of the blue a week later, she's told she's had parent
complaint and robbed the students of a year. She doesn't
want to change grade b/c she feels next year she will be
ready for the challenges facing student in first grade
after getting one year under her belt. Another change to
another grade will just like this past year, having to
learn another new curriculum and procedures. Does she
have any rights as a tenured teacher to not be forced into
this change?
