Count me in on the grassroots effort. I recently found out
that I also did not qualify for even the $5,000 loan forgiveness
because I had loans totaling not even $6,000 prior to 1998. Even
after being encouraged to apply and told that my loans would
qualify. I went through the process only to find out my request
was "Rejected". It infuriates me that while I have worked hard and
made responsible choices to receive an education rather than to
rely on someone else to support me, that I can't even qualify for
just a little help that would help put me in a position to be able
to have less debt. Heaven forbid if I could actually afford to buy
a home too!
