    Re: Teacher Loan Forgiveness
Posted by Alecia Patrick on 4/10/09

I can not believe tbat as a teacher in a Title 1 school there are no
loan forgiveness programs to help teachers who have loans prior to
Ocotober 1998. Like many, I also received a "Rejection" letter from
the goverment on my application. I beleive that many voices can make a
difference. It is a shame that we are encouraged to work in hard to
staff schools in difficult areas and told that our loans would be
forgiven as part of working in these schools. However, when its time
to payout we are being rejected because we have prior loans. It is
amazing how that little "secret" is not revealed to us before hand. I
am interested in working on anything that would help us as teachers
receive some financial assistance with our student loans.
