Re: unfair and discriminatory excet test passing scores in t![]()

I read your article, and i totally agree. A high score does not
gurantee your going to be a good teacher. It does however help you
get noticed by principals looking for teachers.
I have difficulties taking standarized tests, so taking excet
exams are very stressful because in the back of my mind, i know if i
do not pass, i probably will not be hired. I have known people with
4.0 g.p.a do have difficulty with these exams, so imagine how
difficult it is for individuals like me who freeze up while taking
these standarized test.
It seems to me that if your having a shortage of teachers, you
would find alternative ways of certifying people who really want to
teach. Why not structure these exams in a way to help more teachers
pass these exams. I'm not saying give us the answers to every
question, but stucture the exam where the questions are more
practical, reasonable, and not so confusing.
My final point is this, teachers are the nucleus for the
education of children. Every state should make it an effort to
compensate these invididuals with competitive salaries , resources,
materials, education and emotional support. A failure to do so will
only lead to more teachers leaving the profession.
