To me Jonathan Kozol symbolizes the true American values of
equality and honesty. His "Shame of the Nation" was my text book
and it is simply gripping. "Like separate but Equal" issue I am
also going through a similar experience in my personal life..It
is "Equal but not approved" relating to my overseas qualificatons to
meet the local standards. I think of him everyday and perhaps when
my language improves, I too might write about the contradictions he
exposed. With more Kozols around, we can build real bridges between
races by providing educational equities to all.
