Re: students rating teachers, by name, online
Posted by Kim Brown on 11/09/04

Don't just rant to each other. Here is the home # of one of the
site's founders. Found it online in a few seconds. Call him up and
let him know what you think of his site. He feels free to let
others constantly rate you. Also, anything knowingly false and
written with malicious intent is consiered libel. Obviously, there
are false statements on the site written with malicious intent.
And I've seen many comments on the site by students who say this
is their 3rd or 4th rating about a teacher. So in what way is this
constructive criticism. In what way is writing about someone's
shorts or hair or other physical attributes helpful. (And no, I
don't mean these comments were written about me).Perhaps most
disturbing of all is the number of students names posted on this
site under the teacher headline. What kind of damage is being done
to their psyche when kids write malicious comments about them?
Finally arent' new teachers most vulnerable? Don't they improve?
With all the difficulties of the job do they need to deal with
this too? NO I don't dislike this site because there are bad
comments about me. Everyone assumes anyone who does not like this
site got bad reviews. I just think it's a cheap, sorry way to make
money. I was once a new teacher and would have gotten bad ratings
at first and this site did not and would not have helped me improve.
