Re: Poll: About Prayer in Public Schools![]()
Posted by All for it, as long as the children do it privately, either on 9/27/05
silently to themselves or in one of the after-school religious
groups.
If you're talking about a return to the daily enforced, teacher-
led recitation of the Lord's Prayer, though, forget it! It
will never happen anyway, because it's unconstitutional. And
easily half of our student population are not Christian, so it
would be crazy to make them say a Christian prayer. I am not
Christian either, and even if I were I wouldn't be comfortable
dictating religious practice to my students, or working in a
place where I was expected to do so.
There are numerous religious schools all over the country for
families who feel that the religious training their children
get at home and at church is insufficient.
